I originally recorded Titan Town in 1984. I used a Moog Prodigy sythesizer and a Roland MC-202 as a sequencer. I had to wire the MC202´s control voltage output to the Moog to get some of the sounds. The FM synthesis in the MC-202 just didn´t sound “fat” enough by itself. I didn´t have access to multi-track equipment at the time, so I used two stereo cassette decks to record the individual tracks and combine them. The lack of professional equipment (as well as a lack of time) is reflected in the poor sonic quality of the song.
Titan Town was inspired by a piece of music by Jeane Michel Jarre. Those of you who are familiar with his works from the late 1970´s may recognize which one. It´s really not a complete song … more of an elaborate loop. Now that I have access to better technology, I plan to re-record it with virtual instruments and hopefully add a bridge if I can think up one that fits.
In the meantime. Here is the original 1984 recording.
