AboutAbout

What the hell is Labby Road and who does this “Labby” guy think he is anyway?

You’ll find that the Website LabbyRoad.ca is a rather undisciplined mixture of things, including home-grown music, pictures of Labs and other pleasing things, comments about media and creative copyright, and occasional all-out silliness.

More specifically, Labby Road is a metaphor for  my rediscovered creative soul.

Like many people, I was discouraged from creative pursuits at a relatively young age. We are told by the “establishment” that we can’t hope to find success in the creative arts until we are recognized by the artistic community. This idea is pure poison, because when denied creativity, our souls begin to wither and die. We become shadows of our former selves.

I define creative success in a different way.

I champion the idea of creativity as it’s own reward; not for fame, riches or peer approval, but for the pure nourishment of spirit that creativity provides. If you don’t believe that being creative has the power to enrich your existence, just try it. Write a poem. Pick up a paint brush. Write a song!

I’ve chosen composing music as my creative outlet. You’ll find the fruits of my endeavors in the music player in the left sidebar of my Home/Blog page. The wonders of modern computer technology have allowed me to finally release the music that was trapped inside my head and share it with the world. Not everyone will want to listen. That’s okay. If anything that I do encourages even one person to re-discover their creative soul, then I will consider this little project a success.

I hope this idea intrigues you enough to continue on down this road. Labby Road is my journey back to creativity. It’s a magical place that we all traveled to when we were children, but we forgot the way when we grew up. Unlike most childhood fantasies however, this place really exists.

Would you like to find it again? If so, then walk the road with me!
